A Heart Healthy Evening at Sixth Avenue Wine Seller

“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.”
― Paulo Coelho, Brida

There have been many studies that prove drinking wine is beneficial for your health. Red wine is known to have antioxidants with heart-healthy benefits and moderate drinkers of wine have a lower risk of heart disease. We here at Pacific Place are, of course, dedicated to improving our health so naturally we visited our favorite wine retail space and bar, Sixth Avenue Wine Seller, to have a very heart-healthy evening.

Wine at Pacific Place Seattle

While we may not be professional wine tasters, we are professional wine enjoyers, and of the incredible collection of both local and international wines available at Sixth Avenue Wine Seller. Here were some of our favorites.

White Wine Flight Seattle

Whites:

Of the white wines, the Pratsch Gruner Veltliner from Weinviertel, Austria is our number one pick. The apple and peach notes are incredibly light and refreshing. It’s the perfect balance between not too sweet and not too dry and for better or for worse, we can see ourselves drinking this delicious wine with dinner. A lot of it.

The Le Domaine De Menard (Colombard/Ugni) from Cotes de Gascogne, France was next on our list of favorites. It’s definitely more of a dessert wine, much sweeter with notes of pear, nectarine, and lime. Make sure to swirl your glass and take a deep breath. The smell alone is good enough to have you swear off any other dessert wine out there.

From Willamette, Oregon we tried the Cristom Pinot Gris. It was the driest of the three we tried, but there were still pear and citrus notes that paired perfectly with hints of spice. We love that it’s so delicious and we love that it’s local!

Red Wines at Pacific Place

Reds:

The Helix Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington was not only our favorite red wine of the night, but our favorite overall. It has a smokiness and elusive sexiness to it that we can’t quite put our fingers on, but we’ll keep drinking until we find out!

Sparkman Cellars Wilderness Red Blend is also from Columbia Valley, Washington and it’s a little bit of peppery, and a whole lot of perfect. If the fact that Sparkman was recently recognized by Wine and Spirits Publication as one of the top 100 wineries in the world isn’t enough to convince you to try this delicious red blend, consider the fact that Sixth Avenue Wine Seller will donate 10% of the proceeds from this bottle to preserve the wilderness.

The bark of the Oberon Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa County, California is perfect for it’s bite. The smoky spices are perfectly blended with notes of red cherry and blackberry making it a perfect choice for anyone who loves strong flavors in strong wine.

We hope you head on over to Sixth Avenue Wine Seller for a lovely and heart-healthy evening of your own! Happy Valentine’s Day, from Pacific Place.
